Our Trip to the Aquarium
Dave is a member of a local Rotary club and they were offering discount tickets to the local aquarium.....I can't remember it's name. It's near Northern and the 303. Anyway, we don't usually turn down discount tickets :-), so we went out there last week and had a really good time. It was sad, however; that each time we'd see a different type of fish or sea life we say, "Hey, that's like Mrs. Puff from Spongebob!" or "Hey, that's like Dori from Finding Nemo!" I'm glad Bryn and Nick finally had the opportunity to see these creatures in real life and not on a television.

Bryn cracks me up!
Tonight we went to dinner at the Outback. We love this restaurant! Bryn ordered her favorite, Mac & Cheese with a Dr. Pepper (actually it's Mr. Pibb....she doesn't know that). When she was done eating she said, "Wow! There's a party in my stomach."
Later, Dave took Nick out to walk around while I waited for the bill. Bryn wanted to join him and I told her I wanted her to stay and keep my company. She said, "You have the Holy Ghost with you, so you won't be TOTALLY alone." We laughed so hard! She's a great kid.

Flashback Friday: My Dad, Galen Grossarth
Today is my dad's birthday. He was born in 1937, so he would have been 72 today. Wow, that seems so old! He was only 67 when he died, which seemed so young to me. It's funny how numbers change your perspective.
This is my dad with his parents and siblings. My dad is the oldest and standing between his mom and dad. If you live in my ward and know Vern, that's him at the bottom with his tongue out. Uncle Ron is on the left and Aunt Gloria is on the right. This must have been before Uncle Nathan was born.
This is another picture of dad with his mom & dad and siblings. I think it was taken in 1985, but not sure. The top row from left to right is Ron, Vern, Gloria, and Nathan. The bottom row from left to right is my dad, Grandma Grossarth, and Grandpa Grossarth.
I like this last picture because this is how I remember my dad. He worked for CF (Consolidated Freightways) and always had one of these hats in back of his car and would occasionally wear them on his blad head to protect it from the sun, which is ironic because he had skin cancer later in life. This was taken at Disneyland in the late 80s. I remember it was a special trip for Jodi because it was here first time at the happiest place on earth. Good times!
This is my dad with his pet goat. Which is funny to me for two reasons. One, if you knew my dad, you know how he didn't like stinky animals and I'm sure this goat was a stinkin' mess! Two, my sister Nancy is loving known as "Nanny Goat." I wonder if my dad started calling her that. I'll have to ask my siblings.

This is my dad in high school. He loved basketball. Especially when my sister Nancy was the star player on the Beaverton High Girls Varsity basketball team. You should have heard him scream and cheer at those games.

My dad and I didn't always see eye to eye. In fact, there were days I wanted to strangle him. But he was a good grandpa to Bryn. I've learned that I have a lot of his personality, so I'm understanding him more now that I'm older and have kids that drive me crazy :-)

Fun time in Flagstaff
Over the Christmas break, we took the kids up to Flagstaff to play in the snow. We had a great time in the cool air, surrounded by large beautiful trees.
Nick didn't want his gloves on so he could touch the snow, but his hands became so cold that he started to cry. We warmed him up and put his gloves back on. After that, he didn't mind wearing the gloves :-)

Christmas 2008
I know, Christmas was 13 days ago. I'm just catching up after being a lazy bum during the Christmas break. What's sad, is that I didn't even take that many pictures on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. I have some little movie clips of us opening presents, but I'm in most of those and they WILL NEVER be posted. It was early, I hadn't showered, and my pajamas were questionable. So, this is what I've got........
We spend Christmas Eve with my brother, Dave, and his family. This is Dave's daughter, Taylor, with Bryn playing on the computer.
After we got home that night, we peeled some carrots for the reindeer and put out cookies and water for Santa. Yummy!

Flashback Friday: Me and Vicky
Today is my sister's birthday. Happy Birthday, Vicky! So, here's a picture of her holding me in Aloha, Oregon WAY back in 1974. I think it was Easter Sunday, but not sure. (Hey, Rainman! Can you help me out here?) All I know is that I look like Nicholas in a dress. I still have those booties, which my great grandmother made. Love the hair, Vic!
